About Me
I’m Peter Robinson. I live in South Oxfordshire in the UK, not far from Oxford itself. I’m an electronic engineer and have spent most of my working life in the medical electronics industry, mostly as a Service or Technical Support engineer.
I bought my first Contax 139 in 1981. It was my only camera at the time and was used for everything and travelled the world with me. Of all the cameras I’ve owned before or since I’ve probably shot more pictures with it than any other camera I’ve owned. I did my first 139 repair when it went wrong and I decided to try and repair it myself.
My original 139 along with the original winder. The camera has been recovered several times in its life. Here it’s in a gold tinted crocodile finish.
I repair cameras because I enjoy it. It’s primarily a hobby and I set up this site to share repair information with other camera repair enthusiasts.
I’ve been interested in photography since I received my first camera when I was about 10 years old. My current camera collection consists mainly of Contax, Rolleiflex and Sony digital cameras (and my phone). A few of my photographs can be found on Tumblr.
